An agent registry is the system of record for agents and the tools they use: who owns each one, what it may do, which version is live, and how to switch it off. Two different things share the name, a discovery catalog like the MCP Registry and an enterprise inventory that a gateway enforces, and confusing them is how a company ends up with hundreds of agents nobody can list.
