Your deployment caused a public AI incident. The customer's board wants you in the room to present the postmortem. Prepare it.

A board isn't an engineering audience and the postmortem they want isn't the one you'd write for your team. Lead with the wrong thing and you confirm their fear that this is unmanageable. Here's the board-grade structure, blameless but accountable, that restores confidence.

FEDITOR'S NOTE

The disqualifier is presenting an engineering RCA to a board, timelines, prompts, model internals, because a board doesn't want the mechanism, they want assurance the institution has it under control. The held-back follow-up is 'a director asks, point-blank, can you guarantee this never happens again?', the calibrated-honesty cliff where 'yes' is a lie and a flat 'no' reads as no control; the pass is 'not zero risk, here's how we made this specific failure structurally unable to recur, and how we'd catch the next unknown faster.' Interviewers want blameless framing paired with visible system-level accountability and funded, owned, tracked actions.
