Three customers doing the same thing differently is not yet a product

The recurring pattern is real but it is rarely the one that looks obvious. Diff the three implementations to find what is genuinely identical rather than superficially similar, and extract only that, because an abstraction built on a resemblance costs more than the duplication it replaced.
